Feb 7, 2010 Sunday – Saints Super Bowl Victory Day - We went to the family Super Bowl party in Prarieville , LA with many family members including our two oldest children who had been the most heavily indoctrinated into being a perennial losing Saints Fan. This was the night that was to change all that forever and ever.
My most vivid non football memory was of oldest daughter Macy – who had predicted the Saints would win the Super Bowl on her birthday at the start of the season. The game was over, the celebration in the house and on the field was over, people were starting to leave and all of a sudden we see Macy on her knees on the floor with her face in her hands. “Macy, you okay?” someone said. She did not respond. Then we figured it out, she was uncontrollably sobbing tears of joy into her hands and was too embarrassed to get up on her birthday. I think that sums it up for all of us. Miracles do happen!
Tee and I dashed down to the French Quarter on our way back to the hotel and saw the pandemonium and ecstasy on the streets in person. There were people dancing on moving cars, traffic backed up everywhere and the sound of the “Who Dat” cheer ringing out again and again and again. It was awesome.
